WeathrClip App Reviews

Software is 50% tech support and 50% app. This is a good app and the tech support is competent and timely. Need a quick look at the weather this is the app to get.

This app is a fantastic example of how an app should work. Invisible until I need the information. Quietly sitting on my menu bar keeping track of the weather for me. Absolutely love it.

Works Great!

Does exactly what it says. Nice, simple weather app. Put’s the temp in the menu bar and drops down with more information.

The product page shows an option bar and that’s why it attracted me. Reality - no option bar. You might as well use internet weather sites and save your $$

A WunderGround App

Good for a quick weather report/forecast. If you want any detailed information, youll need to visit their website.

I like the display, but the results are completely wrong. This morning it said it was raining outside. it now says there is a thunderstorm. Not a chance — nice sunny day. Being in a penthouse, I can see the entire breadth of the town, and it ain’t raining nowhere in town! :) Since I am in Cuenca, Ecuador, maybe things are better in the States. Still, if you can’t actually get the weather, just say ‘not available’ or some such and don’t just make it up on the fly… :(

Nice summary of current and projected weather. Best part (and what this app features in its own marketing) is the instantaneous access from the menu bar. The source is Weather Underground, and a full report is easily available by clicking small icons at the bottom of the report.

I like the set of info displayed and the general appearance. However most of the time when I glance up at the menu bar to see the temp it says “No Internet” even though I am connected. I’m almost always on my home Wifi so I’m not sure why this app has conection issues. But for this issue I’d give it a higher rating. And I expect/hope this connection issue will be fixed in an update in the near future. FWIW I’m on Mavericks on the latest model MBP.

Don’t bother wasting your $1.99 on this app. Starts up and looks pretty but then turns ugly. Circle with a line through it and the word “Internet” next to it. Then when trying to click on the app it becomes unresponsive. After trying to enter in “Favorites” by zip or City,State it also hangs. Then the app won’t even quit requiring the opening of activity monitor just to kill the app. I’ve got a Mac Pro 3.0 GHz quad core with 16GB of ram running 10.9.2 Mavericks. None of my other apps have any problems and my internet is always up. Even removing the app and all of its associated system files, then downloading and reinstalling the app doesn’t fix these issues. My opinion is that it doesn’t even deserve one star.

So much for the "completely new version" having "many updates and bug fixes." Why? Because I CANT EVEN USE IT NOW. Unlike the previous version, which actually would launch and perform fine. Awaiting the inevitable version 2.0.1, which I can only hope fixes this latest huge problem. Come on, developers! Quality Control. Test Your App Thoroughly Before You Release It.

WeathrClip is the default weather app on my MacBook Pro. It does the job really well and the new 2.0 version looks even better than before. Great job by Gavin. Recommended!

1. The update removed all previously saved locations 2. Impossible to add location - Vancouver, BC - even if using weather station ID 3. Selecting the Current Location shows Richmond Quebec, instead of Richmond, BC where I am currently The app needs a lot of work

I get the "tutorial" page but then it just crashes. I removed it and re-installed it and it still crashed every time time. I am running 10.7.5 I hope there is an easy fix. The earlier version was good, so I hope once this gets fixed, it will get a place back in my menu bar.

Installed the latest update. The program doesnt work and crashes upon opening. Horrible…..

I can definitely say that my experience with the new WeathrClip update is indeed positive. I am running OS 10.9.4 and WeathrClip has not crashed, the locations entered are accepted without fail and all is working. As with all such apps, it is only as good as the source (WeatherUnderground in this case) for any given location. I track weather in three widely separated locales and the WeatherUnderground stations selected via the locations entered into WeathrClip are absolutely as they should be in each of the three cases. Don’t know what else to say, but obviously some users (not many have yet written a review of this latest version) have had experiences different from mine. Again, I find WeathrClip 2.0 to work as the developer claims and intended. If your milage has varied, contact the developer and see whether a solution can be found.

This excellent weather app quietly sits in your menubar where it unobtrusively displays the current weather condition and temperature. Click on the icon for expanded weather info that any weather geek could want. Most helpful in my opinion is the live radar. For expanded weather-related info, WeatherUnderground website is just a click away. It’s never crashed on my Mac running 10.9.4. Love version 2.0 even better than 1.0.
